Rhinoplasty

What is rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to correct the shape, size and symmetry of the nose. It can be performed for aesthetic or medical purposes – for example, with a crooked nasal septum or difficulty breathing. At Via Medica Nexaa Clinic, we use ultrasound equipment that allows for more atraumatic and more precise surgical intervention. Thanks to this, we have a faster recovery. Learn more about us

Plastic surgery of the face, rhinoplasty

IMPORTANT!

It is important that you are at least 18 years old, have a stable weight, good general health, personal motivation for the operation and realistic expectations for the result.

Before the procedure, the plastic surgeon will discuss with you all questions and expectations.

Informed consent is a mandatory document that contains a detailed description of the procedure, possible risks and complications, anesthesia and financial conditions. It is signed after careful familiarization and the opportunity to ask questions to the plastic surgeon or anesthesiologist.

How does the operation work?

Surgical correction of the nose is performed using precise and gentle techniques tailored to the individual anatomy of each patient.

1

Technique and methods of the operation

Depending on the access, rhinoplasty can be "open" – with an external incision or "closed" – performed through the nostrils. The clinic uses state-of-the-art equipment for performing ultrasound rhinoplasty.

2

Anesthesia and Downtime

The operation is performed under full anesthesia, and its duration is about 2 hours. The stay in the clinic is 24 hours, and after the intervention, patients are anesthetized and they are given postoperative care to help them recover.

Recovery - what to expect after surgery?

The recovery period is individual and may vary from patient to patient.

Risks and possible complications of rhinoplasty

All surgical interventions carry risks, and plastic surgery is no exception, and serious complications are rare when the operation is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon.

Revision rhinoplasty: Secondary rhinoplasty corrects deformities from previous surgery. It is more difficult than primary because there are adhesions, tissue contracture, less cartilage tissue and it is not always possible to achieve what the patient wants.

Preoperative preparation

It is forbidden:

  1. Take Aspirin and its derivatives at least two weeks before surgery.
  2. We recommend that you stop smoking two weeks before surgery.
  3. If you are taking any medications, you should notify your treatment team!
  4. If you have any evidence of a drug allergy, please inform your treatment team, which will require testing and taking medications 3-5 days before the operation!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How long does recovery take after rhinoplasty?

The initial recovery period usually lasts 10–15 days, during which swelling and bruising gradually decrease. The final result is formed within a few months, and in some patients mild residual edema can persist for up to 6–12 months.

In most cases, incisions are made on the inside of the nostrils and no visible scars remain. With certain techniques, there may be a minimal external incision that heals discreetly and becomes virtually imperceptible over time.

The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia, therefore, no pain is felt during the operation. In the postoperative period, mild to moderate discomfort is possible, which is usually successfully controlled with prescribed medication.

The first visible improvements are noticeable after the removal of the splints, but the final result is evaluated after the complete reduction of the swelling. This usually takes between 6 and 12 months, depending on the individual characteristics of the patient.

The cost of rhinoplasty varies according to the complexity and scope of the correction. An individual consultation is required for an accurate offer.

Wearing glasses is limited for about 3–4 weeks to avoid pressure on the nose.
