Skin neoplasms include both benign formations – such as moles, fibroids, lipomas and papillomas – as well as potentially risky lesions that require careful medical evaluation. They can be congenital or acquired and, depending on their type, location and dynamics, create an aesthetic, functional or health problem.
Various skin neoplasms are subject to surgical removal, most often pigmented nevi (moles) located on open areas of the face and body. Some of them may carry an increased risk of transformation into malignant skin tumors, which is why timely diagnosis and treatment are essential.
When removing small formations , the wound is usually closed with an internal suture, and the residual scar is fine and linear in shape. For larger neoplasms , it may be necessary to apply more complex plastic-restorative techniques in order to achieve an optimal functional and aesthetic result.
In certain cases, removal can be done by coagulation. Then a crust forms on the treated area, which falls off on its own within about 10 days. During this period, the skin remains pink, and it is advisable to use sunscreen until its color is consistent with that of the surrounding skin.
