Liposuction

What is liposuction?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure to remove stubborn fat deposits that are not affected by diet or sports. It allows for fine shaping of the silhouette without being a method of losing weight. It is often applied to areas such as abdomen, glutes, thighs, back, arms, knees, double chin.

IMPORTANT!

It is important that you are at least 18 years old, have a stable weight, good general health, personal motivation for the operation and realistic expectations for the result.

Before the procedure, the plastic surgeon will talk to you about all your questions and expectations. The choice of a breast lift method is carried out individually, together with the specialist. Women who are planning pregnancy and breastfeeding are usually advised to postpone surgery.

Informed consent is a mandatory document that contains a detailed description of the procedure, possible risks and complications, anesthesia and financial conditions. It is signed after careful familiarization and the opportunity to ask questions to the plastic surgeon or anesthesiologist.

What is surgery?

1

Technique and methods of the operation

Through several small incisions near the problem areas, a special solution containing saline serum, lidocaine and adrenaline is initially introduced in order to pre-break down fat cells and reduce blood loss. In ultrasonic liposuction, this function is performed by ultrasonic energy. Then, through the same incisions, a fine cannula is inserted, connected to a vacuum pump, through which adipose tissue is extracted in a controlled manner. For safety and optimal results, it is recommended to remove no more than 2.5 to 3 liters of adipose tissue at one stage.

2

Anesthesia and Downtime

After the operation, the patient wakes up without severe pain, dressed in special elastic underwear. If desired, the extracted adipose tissue can be processed and used for injection into another part of the body (lipofilling). Liposuction can be performed under general anesthesia, and the choice depends on the scope of the procedure and the number of areas treated. The duration of the operation is determined individually according to the volume of liposuction. The patient is discharged with elastic underwear and detailed instructions for postoperative care and recovery.

3

Important

An extremely important factor for a quick recovery and achieving a good end result is wearing a special tight elastic clothing during the period recommended by the surgeon.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is abdominoplasty painful?

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and no pain is felt during the operation. In the postoperative period, moderate discomfort is possible, which is usually successfully controlled with medication.

Initial recovery takes about 2–3 weeks, with most patients returning to work after 10–15 days. Full recovery and shaping of the final result occurs within a few months.

The incision is located low in the abdomen, so the scar remains hidden under the underwear. Over time, the scar fades significantly, but remains permanent.
